5 out of 5 stars Portal - best game of 2007   February 8, 2008
Half Life is a great game. It's been reviewed to death and if you haven't played it, you should. But the real reason to buy the Orange Box immediately is the add-on 'Portal'. Portal is a puzzle based game that has an incredibly unique game mechanic and amazing story line riddled with black humor. Basically you a trapped in a test facility (think human lab rat) and forced to try and escape using your wits and the Portal gun. This little marvel has just one function- it allows you to create 2 holes in any two surfaces (walls, floors, ceilings, platforms... well anything.) Whatever goes in one hole comes out the other. Simple. Your goal is to use this mechanic to warp to the exit of each room, but thwarting your every move along the way is a homocidal computer called GlaDos. Her's is the only voice heard in the game and through her dialogue you learn the 'story' behind what's happening to you. The voice acting is suberb, the dialogue is amazingly sharp, witty and very, very funny. And the puzzles real mind benders. Trying to wrap your brain around the 3d logistics of how to get from one place to another is so much fun. This really was the best game of 2007 and I can't recommend it highly enough.

It was in perfect condition and I got it for a cheaper price than stupid gamestop, which is the best part! The game is amazing, Half-Life is better than HALO any day, any time. :)

5 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect!!!   February 5, 2008
Just the load times are an issue for this game. Everything else is just perfect. Half Life is the best shooter hands down, and playing it on my 40" has been amazing.

5 out of 5 stars Best computer game combo package ever   January 28, 2008
Great combo of games. Half-Life 2, ep 1 & 2, and Portal are all great fun games!
Good gameplay, graphics, action, puzzles, story, etc.

5 out of 5 stars Great game   January 26, 2008

I bought this on PS3 because I've had enough of upgrading my PC (I'd rather just get a huge TV now instead). My PS3 has been a paper weight for almost a year until I got this game. I have HL2 on the PC but not the extra episodes or extra content that comes with the Orange Box. I was a bit hesistant to buy this as most review sites made this game sound like it is unplayable on the PS3. Now, I can't help but think those reviews were sabotage attempts because those opinions couldn't be further from the truth. The visual differences between this version and HL2 on the PC are insignificant. I had one instance of slowdown during HL2 (not once during Ep1/Ep2/Portal/TF2) and it lasted a whole 3 seconds tops. EA actually came through in my opinion. Great game! Now if I could only get used to playing FPS games without my keyboard/mouse :S
