very nice April 17, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
i've played hl1 and i got hooked. same with this game. the graphics are really nice if you have a computer that can take everything. it's still pretty fun and good even with the lowest quality but you need to set all the settings on highest to really get the best effects. also, make sure you have lots of time when you start playing this game cuz you'll probably get hooked within 10 minutes of playing.
This game is bad. January 11, 2006 Better buy original one. Collector's edition is making bad game worse.
Steam Install will make you want to break something January 9, 2006 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
The game itself was great. But the AntiPiracy Program "Steam" is a Steaming Pile. First off the Install takes forever. Say you pop in your disc to play your single player game, Well if Steam wants to update your halflife copy. Well you'll just have to wait to play your game, Steam has some updating to do. One time I popped in my disc, half hour later the splash screen has no link for single player... what is this. I don't want to play online. I just want to play my game. This is so Frustrating. Because of a few people pirating games, us paying customers have to suffer. I would pay twice as much for a game to Never have to go through anything like Steam ever again.
More than Expected January 4, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought Half life 2 very skeptical. Ive played many first person shooters, RPG's in general and this game blew my mind. While it didnt take me extrememly long to beat it the storyline, character development, graphics, and details put most other games to shame. Keep in mind I did run this game on a laptop I have at college flawlessly. This game has great graphics, a challenging yet not impossible set of levels and an extremely realistic plot. I encourage anyone to purchase the half life series. I bought the game of the year edition that came with counter strike-source too which i think is a great idea. The only problem now is my expectations for other first person shooters are very very high. Let me know if anyone can find a game that rivals this. The only problem i had at all with this game was the second vehicle you drive the little buggy, was kidna hard to control but i guess that adds to the difficulty. Buy this game if you want intense, realistic, and in depth gaming. You WILL NOT be dissappointed.
DVD not CD September 23, 2005 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great Game! But on the Friday sales they keep listing this item as [CD]. It is not. It is on DVD. Just giving fair warning to anyone who may want to pick up this game, make sure you have a DVD-ROM drive, or buy the non-collector's edition.
That said, this game is amazing. A good mix of strategy and plain old blow sh*t up.
