Not Bad for the First Time November 2, 2008 If you have played a current gen version of this game (which is really pretty fun), then you will find the ps2 version very...very lacking. No character creation, and a relatively limited roster make for a game that just cannot compete with SvR. For some reason, for almost every game that has been multi-platform recently, the developers just didn't take the time to put the same features on the ps2 versions as they to the current gen versions, even when the system has the ability to support them. But, you have to understand that this is TNA's first try, not to mention the developer they went with has never made a wrestling game before. Consider that, and they did a pretty nice job. I just wish they held back the release date a few more weeks so they could put all the features on the ps2 version. So skip this one, unless you are a die hard TNA fan, and wait until the next installment that will undoubtedly make up for all of this games rookie mistakes. Expect TNA iMPACT! the game to equal and even surpass SvR in the coming years.
7.5 STEAMING pILES OF CRAP OUT OF 10 September 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
TNA WRESTLING : IMPACT for PS2 Review
BAD : - No Ref?!? - Button mashing galore - All characters are created equal - No unique use of 6 sided ring - Plot of story mode is fruckin' stupid! - "Suicide" becomes TNA champ - Gets beat down by LAX - Wakes up in Mexico - Has no memory, but is angry and has to vent rage - Becomes (logically?) a wrestler?!?!?! - Voice actor does absolutely nothing put this key plot point over - There are 2 wrestlers who are blatant rip offs of ICP
- End of match there is a "points" screen...WHY?!?! - Very few match types - Only weapon available : folding chair - No "Dusty finishes?" This is not TNA - There is a video lag with more than 2 wrestlers in the ring - You get to unlock a whole CRAP load of people you've never heard of!
Verdict : Sub-Par fighting game with no real depth. Novice fighting game fans might enjoy the story mode. Smart wrestling fans will hate it.
In my steaming piles of crap chart (10 being worst) i give it 7.5 steaming piles of crap out og 10.
Lackluster production and a rushed product September 21, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I went to the store to buy this game, the cashier at the counter said it was one of the best games out there. He said that it played like WWF No Mercy did on N64. So instead of taking his word for it, I rented the game and thank God I did. This game is a waste of the 6 bucks it took to rent it! For starters, you can't do slams, suplexes, or anything else that may wow you from the top rope, there are no moves you can do to double team someone, the only weapons they have for crying out loud are chairs! Furthermore, I am really winded with the tag team section of this game. The one thing that I am impressed with here is the reversal system. That is about it. If I could give it a 1.75 stars, I would because giving it a 2 is being generous. Save your money and get the new SVR 09 when it drops in November.
This Game Rules September 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
First let me say this is the best first game I have ever played and I thought the game was great and I play it almost everyday and also would recomend it for everyone who likes tna and vidieo games
here is the the roster without the jobbers which there are to many of
1.,2. Lax 3.,4. Beer Money 5.,6. MCMG 7.,8. Team 3d 9. Kurt Angle 10. Jeff Jarrett 11. Sting 12. Kevin Nash 13. Rhino 14. Abyss 15. Aj Styles 16. Samoa Joe 17. Senshi 18. Suicide 19. Booker T 20. Fallen Angel 21. Scott Steiner 22. Shark Boy 23. Eric Young 24. Jay Lethal 25. Christian Cage 26. Sonjay Dutt 27. Tomko
There are 9 match types 1. Standard Match 2. Ultimate X 3. Free for All (three way dance) 4. Submission 5. Tag Team 6. Handicap 7. Falls Count Anywhere 8. Tag Team fca 9. Ultimate X ffa
I thougt the game is great and that the roster was better than what I thought it would be also sabin, suicide, and aj have second chacaters with a x behind there name with different outfits
This game is great and i recommend it to everyone
dissapointing September 15, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm a huge TNA fan, so I was very excited about this game coming out, but what a waste. No actual character creation. No multi-tap for more than 2 players. The moves are VERY limited. The controls are'nt very user friendly. The story line although cool, is only for some pre-made character, they came up with. And worst of all, my game has a glitch when you try to play a tag match. The tag partner outside the ring gets stuck if you hop off the ring apron(to the point where you can see their head sticking out of the ring. Over all, a great idea for the best wrestling company in the bussiness, but they should have went with a game designer that had a clue how to make a wrestling game. My only hope is that since this is the first attempt, they will greatly improve on the next one.
