You are free to roam the world of Albion any way you like. View larger. | Every Choice Has Its Consequences Fable 2 provides players with a truly immersive experience where a virtually limitless number of choices can be made, all of which have their own consequences, making each game unique. When you start the game, you choose either to play the role of a boy or girl, and depending on your choices, the hero will grow up to be tall or short, good or evil. Players can get married and have children; female player characters will become pregnant, which will then be reflected by their physical appearance. Early in the game, players are presented with a stray dog for a best friend, who will need to be fed and loved, and will accompany the player throughout his or her life. Depending on the player, the dog will change appearance and assist him or her in various ways, such as alerting of impending dangers and attacking enemies. Players inhabit the world of Albion and are free to roam the land to as they please. Players can use different expressions to communicate with others, such as taunting and laughing, and even belching or farting. As the players grow, so does Albion, reflecting the choices that were made earlier in the game. Every house, hut, castle, and dungeon can be purchased if the player wishes. Players can buy up all the land in a town and can become mayor, king, and even emperor of the entire land. Fable 2 presents a dynamic and free-roaming world that doesn't demand a player to take any one set path. At the same time, players seeking a plot line will find an epic story and quest that they can follow if they wish, along with many side adventures. Fight Using Different Weapons and Magic Fable 2 introduces a new combat system that allows for mastery of hand weapons, such as swords, long range weapons such as cross-bows and guns, and, of course, magic. Players improve at each discipline with time, and can combine different combat styles when they fight. Other advanced design features include tactical positional advantages that can bring new strategic elements into combat. Bring Other Players into Your World Fable 2 has a multiplayer mode that allows you to bring other players into your own world. Consistent with the rest of the game, the actions of these other players can be permanent and affect your world. You can explore and fight together with these other players, share treasures, and even fight each other. Note: Fable 2 will not ship with Online Co-op mode. An update with this functionality is rumored to be released shortly after the launch of the game. Xbox LIVE Arcade Mini-Games Gamers can play minigames through Xbox LIVE Arcade and earn currency that can be used in Fable 2 to purchase weapons, armor, and other items for the hero. Fable 2 is rated M for having mature content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older.
Depending on your choices, the protagonist can turn out wildly different -- male, female, good, evil, and more.

HORRIBLE sequel to the original Fable November 18, 2008 After all this time waiting for a decent sequel, we get this horrible closed minded follow up to the original. It's much more constricted in it's gameplay and the graphics aren't much better considering it's on the xbox 360. It seems like there is less to do, with more rules and very little freedom in comparison to the original. I felt like they regressed in every way possible other than adding a few things like working on jobs and such. The spells are blended for a boring mix and gun/crossbow targeting sucks. For god's sake, you can't even fight with your bare fists anymore...so much for punching out villagers! I couldn't wait just to get the game over with!! Don't buy!!!
More glitches than quests... November 17, 2008 How do you take an amazing game idea and ruin it? Simple really, you do not test or prepare this game for commercial launch. Action RPG gamers will love this game... in the semi-distant future when patches for the extreme amount of glitches are finally released. Don't buy it now, odds are you'd have to abandon your time spent when your game hits an error that you can NOT correct. When fixes are available this will be an amazing game... Until then it's a waste of time.
worth the doh November 17, 2008 im in a hurry, but ill say that this game is a must buy for hardcore and casual gamers alike.
Half of a Great Game November 17, 2008 Fable 2 is a Good game that could have easily been great. The game seems rushed out the door to meet the holiday rush. There are numerous bugs, some are gamebreakers. One of the major gripes is the use of only one save file, which autosaves. In a game all about "major" choices, this seems to be a dumb move by the developers.
The game is not as open as games such as Oblivion but it tries to be. I found that if I killed NPCs they would disappear for an hr then be replaced by a carbon copy with a different name.
Some highly publicised features are not as dramatic as you would think. Take for instance the dog. The game manual states that it will take on very drastic visual changes based on your moral alignment. The only change i found was that the dog was a Golden retriever when I was a Saint and just a dark colored version of the same dog when I was being naughty. I expected the dog to be a vicious Kujo clone or something.
The game is not very balanced either. It is very easy to max out the upgradeable stats( strength, spells etc.) So halfway through the game I have useless xp reserves. This is a small problem though. Another problem is, there are few weapon stats to compare weapons with. This leads to the game randomly telling you weapons are better and you taking it's word for it.
The menu system kinda sucks too. If I bought 6 potions and I wanted to use them all. I would have to pause the game and go into the items menu then select the potions menu then select the potion i wanted and repeat this same process 6 times. Also when you go to buy weapons there is no comparison screen showing how the store weapons compare to the weapons in your inventory. So you have to exit the buying menu to see your current weapon is better. But all of these are small annoyances.
My major annoyance is the games unclimactic ending.
The level designs and art are gorgeous and the sound is pretty good as well. There are plenty of emotional moments in the game. One toward the middle actually forces you to make probably the hardest decision in the game.
The economy system is a pretty well thought out idea. You purchase stores and houses. You can lower the prices/rent in these properties and this will make the towns economy stronger. If you raise the prices/rent the economy suffers. Plus you get paid every 5min in real time based on the properties you own. If only GTA4 had something like this.
All in all Fable 2 is a good game with a short main story but tons of side quests and secrets. It is plagued by little annoyances and bugs but is still an enjoyable game. I would give it 3 and a half stars but I went with 4 instead of giving it 3. I suggest renting the game first to see if it's your type of party.
Just one more XP Orb November 17, 2008 Fable II is a fantasy role-playing game where you create a character and build that character up. Fable II I think is perhaps the new Oblivion in my life. You start out as a child and, following a series of quests you become an adult. This is where the real game begins. The main plot of the game revolves around avenging your sister's death at the hands of an obsessed Lord named Lucien, this takes you across the game-world looking for the Heroes of Skill, Will, and Strength. Now for the game features.
Story: Fabulous story which grips you from beginning to end. Absolutely amazing and the most fun I've had with a game since I've played CoD4 multiplayer. Combat: Two words, Holy Crap. This is most fun combat in a third person game ever and that includes Gears of War. Very simple but deep, "Y" is for shooting your crossbow or gun "B" for will(magic) attacks and "X" for melee. As you progress you can collect experience orbs (more on that later) which will allow you to buy spells, melee attacks and specialized gun/crossbow attacks. On spell, you are able to fill a tree from level 1 to 5, you can put a level 1 spell in a tier 1 slot a level 2 spell in a tier 2 slot... and so on. As you hold "B" your spells will progress. You can put all the levels of a sing spell in your tree or a mix of spells ranging in power from weak to strong as you hold down the B button. In melee you are able to block and execute special maneuvers which does more damage and as for ranged weapons, you invest your orbs into different abilities such as aiming in fps view or shooting specific parts of a body. Multiplayer: Despite the changes the multiplayer underwent right before release it is still fun as it adds an extra dimension to the game when I hop in with my buddy and finish some quests. It is also surprisingly easy you just toss your friend a controller or invite him to your console over XBOX live and voila, you're playing together. The simplistic nature can only be likened to lego Star Wars. Oh and the best part is you can split XP and gold earned between the two players and take it back to your char. Family: Not much to say here, you get married, have kids and nothing more to do from there, essentially, easy. Dog: I LOVE MY DOG, he made me a rich man and helps me out in combat 5/5
Cons: Sometimes glitchy don't play co-op when you're destination is a childhood game you can potentially lose everything on your char. The game also occasionally crashes.
Overall : Well worth the [...], you won't buy another game for a while.
