Amazing game, no problems at all! November 18, 2008 I played this game on my PC and there are NO problems or glitches at all. The patches that they put out really help and the graphics are intense and amazing. I reccomend this shooter to anyone who enjoys intense, suspensful, and heart-pumping action! (Make sure you are 17+ unless you have a parent's permission!)
Carries the Torch of "Far Cry" Well November 15, 2008 Summary: This first-person shooter, like its predecessor, "Far Cry", is based on a "single soldier in a science-fction scenario" plot.
Pros: - Graphics are very nice (Note: my PC has an Intel Q6600, lots of RAM and an NVIDIA 8800GT, running Windows XP). - Computer-controlled characters are smarter than those in "Far Cry". - Simulated environment is extremely "open": It's even more "go anyhere, do anything" than "Far Cry". - Simulated objects behave more realistically than before.
Cons: - Computer controlled characters still occasionally do stupid things.
The bottom line: If you liked "Far Cry", then you will like this game (if you've got the hardware to run it).
Its an ok game a bit complex though. November 7, 2008 the game is complex, though it is alot of fun, but u need a good computer to run this game. I only have 2.6 GHZ core 2 duo with vista 64 bit operating system and 512mb graphics card and 4 gigs of ram, on my laptop and it runs good but i have to reduce the graphics a bit.
Far Cry was MUCH better, but it was worth the Yard Sale $1 November 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Let me start by saying I got this in a yard sale for $1. Yes, it is very demanding on your hardware so I played with most settings at low. Probably because of this I didn't think it looked better than Far Cry, and many ways much worse (I cranked up settings to high to check it out and the visuals still weren't polished like Far Cry).
The beginning missions were like some of the poorer sections of Far Cry (multiple paths but really not too many choices). The last sections were like Half-Life 2, so single pathed you feel like a dog on a leash. The different vehicles were fun, but none but the Humvee really felt real enough to make it really fun (helicopter was fair at best).
All in all, I'd say it was fun. Playability was average (why do the enemies see you in the dark and behind things?). In some areas the AI was really off, with the Koreans facing the wrong way as you mowed them down for 5 minutes. Felt very unpolished, but can be finished and didn't crash with the latest patches. Played on difficult, and the end was really challenging which required 20 replays in half a dozen spots.
Definitely worth the $1 I paid, if I paid up to $20 for it then I'd be happy. I'm going back to playing Far Cry with user generated maps, maybe I'll take it out again in 4 years when standard hardware can drive the game engine to its potential.
Great until you have to fly November 1, 2008 The game is a superb FPS until they have you fly. The controls are the worst I have seen in nearly 20 years of computer gaming. Complete failure of design. The enemy stays right behind you and you have very little control over the aircraft. At that point it is time to quit.
