5 out of 5 stars Great Gaming   October 10, 2006
This was a state of the art flying simulation back in the days of vintage early 90s MS Flight Sim. This game was unique in that it allowed you do your own things, like moving to different Aerodromes or linking up with new squadrons. You can even customize your aircraft. How cool is that when you're 8 years old? I used to play this for hours on end, and still after many video games later, I keep it in my pile of excellent games to play.

5 out of 5 stars One of the all time greats. A Sierra Masterpiece.   March 9, 2005

This game probably more then any other flight sim really made flight sims popular. Though the game has had alot of time to age it still plays suprisingly well and is an absolute bargain at the prices it's being offered for here on Amazon - though for many it might be a better idea to try Aces Over the Pacific, Aces Over Europe or the more recently released Red Baron 2, all of which play very similar but are probably a little bit more playable today.

Basically the game starts out with you getting to chose to be either an Allied pilot or a German pilot. When you first start out in the early missions you start out as part of a flight group but when you become an Ace (shoot down 5 planes) you eventually get to lead your own formation of planes or even go solo if you prefer. While it's typical to spend most of your time doing simple recon or escort missions later in the game other aces will often challenge you to dogfight (an aerial deathmatch)and you even get to attempt to destory the legendary Zepelin and chose and customize your own plane (at first you must use primitive planes such as the Fokker Eidenbacker and the Marane Bullet (think flying Geo Metro) but as the war progresses (if you can survive that long) you can fly much more advanced planes such as the Sopwith Camel.

Enjoy
